The protocol ceremony was held at the Horacio Muratore National Minibasketball House, in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, and was led by engineer Rafael Uribe, president of the Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal), along with Sports Immortal and Vice Minister of Sports, Fernando Teruel, president of the National Minibasket Commission. The recognition was presented to Monegro by Uribe and Teruel, accompanied by Alberto Rodríguez, executive director of the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI); Andrés Vanderhorts, former Secretary of Sports; and Junior Páez, vice president of Fedombal. Also present were the Immortals of Sport Evaristo Pérez, as well as Fausto Paulino and Luis Minier, presidents of the basketball associations of San Pedro de Macorís and Montecristi, respectively.

In thanking for the dedication of the Convivio, Monegro expressed his gratitude to the organizers, leaders, and athletes of national minibasketball.
Athletes, enjoy your event during these three days of activity —from the 12th to the 14th of this month—, play, have fun, and make friends, many of them for life”, he stated.

José Monegro is the former president of the Basketball Association of the National District (Abadina), a period in which he significantly promoted the development of mini-basketball. He currently chairs the Organizing Committee of the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. During the event, Rafael Uribe, Fernando Teruel and Alberto Rodríguez agreed in highlighting that mini-basketball, at the ages of 11 and 12 years old, constitutes the base where the future of Dominican basketball and the formation of better citizens is forged. Uribe informed that from this Convivio, 25 children will be selected to become part of the Youth National Teams Project, from which the future U15, U17, U19 teams and the senior national team will emerge. The sports oath was taken by the child Elián Benet Aracena, representing the National District. All games of the 2025 National Minibasketball Convivio will be broadcast simultaneously on YouTube, from the three available courts, through the official channel Fedombal TV.
