OpenAI launches a health section in ChatGPT and encourages users to share their data

New York.- The tech company OpenAI launched this Wednesday a specific health section in ChatGPT to gather information from this area in one place and encouraged users to share their medical documents and data from applications such as Apple Health. ChatGPT Health, which appears as a tab in the 'chatbot' menu bar, is only available to a small group of users in the United States and other non-European countries, but OpenAI plans to offer it on the iOS operating system and its website in the "coming weeks." According to a statement, the artificial intelligence (AI) company, health is one of the main topics of consultation in ChatGPT and this service, which has been created in collaboration with doctors, will have "additional and layered protections specifically designed" for this area due to privacy concerns.

The service "is designed to support, not replace, medical services" and "is not intended to make diagnoses or treatments", highlights the company, which aims to "help" users with their health questions so that they are more "informed and prepared". In that sense, it invites users to share medical histories and health applications such as Apple Health, Function or MyFitnessPal, to "understand test results", prepare medical visits, get diet or exercise tips, or compare insurance based on health "patterns". The company stated that the information shared in Health and its "memories" will never pass to the general chats of ChatGPT, and similarly, these general chats cannot access the content within the health section. Those health "memories" can also be viewed and "deleted", it specifies.
