The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, began here his first international promotion presentation of the year, highlighting the contributions of the state of Florida to the growth of Dominican tourism.
In its first roadshow of this 2026, Collado presented to hundreds of travel agents, tour operators, and other actors in the sector the beautiful and diversified tourist offer of the Dominican Republic.
"Without a doubt, the success of tourism in our country comes from the approach with travel agents and tour operators around the world. Thank you for being here," said Minister Collado.
The official described those meetings as a key strategy, which has allowed more than 50% of the tourists who visit the country to do so through travel agents and tour operators.
In his presentation, the Dominican Minister of Tourism showcased the new hotel brands, the new tourist destinations, and the improvements to the beaches and their access.
Collado also highlighted the contribution of the state of Florida as a source of tourists to the Dominican Republic.
He informed that only last year his country received 627,094 tourists residing in the state of Florida.
He added that the cities of Miami, Orlando, and Tampa contributed more than 40% of this influx of tourists.
"If Florida were considered as a source country, the volume of resident tourists in that state traveling to the Dominican Republic would place it in third place, only behind the United States and Canada," the official exemplified.
Collado made clear the impact that the arrival of tourists from the state of Florida had on the Dominican economy.
"Those are not just numbers. That arrival of tourists represented 41,390 jobs, more than 443 million dollars in foreign currency and more than 10,679 million pesos in tax payments," underlined Minister Collado.
