Santo Domingo. – Faced with versions circulating on social media about alleged irregularities in organ donation and transplant processes, an attempt was made to obtain information directly from the General Hospital of the Plaza de la Salud, as it is the only center qualified to perform this type of procedure.
During the visit made by a team from De Último Minuto to the health center to conduct the corresponding investigations on the issue of organ trafficking that has become a trend on social media, some of the people interviewed said they were unaware that the rigorous processes were being violated in said clinic.
"I have been attending this health center for over 10 years. For me it is the best clinic and I don't believe anything that people say, expressed Martina Sosa."
So far, the versions circulated have not been supported by formal complaints or documented evidence before the relevant authorities, nor has there been any information about open investigations related to these allegations.
Specialists in the health area recall that the organ donation and transplant processes in the Dominican Republic are regulated by law 329-98 and supervised by official organizations, and warn that the dissemination of unverified information can generate alarm and misinformation in the population.
