Cathedral Community School Delegation Receives Recognition at Yale Model United Nations 2026

New Haven, Connecticut. – A delegation of 15 students from Cathedral Community School had an outstanding participation in the 52nd edition of the Yale Model United Nations (YMUN LII), held from January 14 to 19, 2026 in the city of New Haven, consolidated as one of the most prestigious international academic forums for training in diplomacy, youth leadership and critical thinking. During the event, students demonstrated a high level of academic preparation, mastery of parliamentary procedures, negotiation skills, and analytical abilities, interacting with delegations from different regions of the world and addressing issues of global relevance. As a result of their outstanding performance, the delegation was recognized as Best Delegation in the Latin American Parliament (LAP) committee, representing the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

This important achievement was spearheaded by student Rocío Calderón De Los Santos, who stood out for her leadership, diplomatic excellence, and effective representation of the assigned country.

The delegation was composed of the students Erickson Caba, Fabián Villa, Gabriel Ramos, Javier Jáquez, José Armando Pezzotti, Katia Rodríguez, Kiara Vargas, María Holguín, María del Carmen Echevarría, Robert Medina, Sabryna Every, Jean Luis Liriano, Shenoa Romero and Juliette Hernández, under the coordination of Martha De Marchena, Esq., who accompanied the group throughout their stay in the United States.

Participation in the Yale Model United Nations reaffirms the commitment of Cathedral Community School to a comprehensive education aimed at developing global citizens, capable of taking on international challenges, promoting constructive dialogue, and proudly representing their academic community in high-level settings. The institution especially thanked advisor Jorge Guillermo González Percival, educator of the Debate Club and graduate of the center, for his support and for contributing to this achievement that strengthens the international projection of the Cathedral Community School and inspires future generations to actively engage in spaces of debate, leadership and international cooperation.
