To make room on the roster, the organization placed right-handed pitcher Evan Phillips on the 60-day injured list. Hernández, who also confirmed the news through his social media with the message “3 in a row sounds great!”, will face his tenth season with the Dodgers uniform and the 13th in the Major Leagues. The Puerto Rican comes from winning his third World Series title with the Los Angeles franchise (2020, 2024 and 2025), establishing himself as a recurring piece in the club's decisive moments. The 34-year-old player participated in 92 games during the 2025 season, recording a .203 batting average, with 10 home runs and 53 games as a starter. Although his numbers were not outstanding in the regular season, he again demonstrated his value in the postseason, where he started in 17 games and starred in key plays, including a decisive double play in the World Series. Throughout his career, Hernández has played multiple positions, including second and third base, shortstop, and the outfield, which has allowed him to become a strategic piece within manager Dave Roberts' scheme. Before his definitive return to Los Angeles, the baseball player also wore the uniform of the Boston Red Sox, after his first championship stage with the Dodgers. Since then, he has maintained a constant link with the Californian organization, returning on different occasions as a free agent. With this signing, the Dodgers once again reinforce their depth and experience as they look to defend their title in the 2026 season.
