Trump says he will visit Venezuela but the date hasn't been decided yet.

Washington.- The U.S. President, Donald Trump, assured this Friday that he will visit Venezuela, although he admitted that the date of the trip has not yet been decided.

"I am going to visit Venezuela," Trump responded to journalists at the White House today, and then explained that it has not yet been defined when this trip will take place.

The Republican made these statements before leaving for a military base in North Carolina, where this Friday he plans to meet with members of the U.S. special forces who participated in the operation that ended with the capture in January of the Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, who is now facing trial in New York accused of narcoterrorism and conspiracy.

Following the military operation, the Trump administration has handed over the transition command in Venezuela to Maduro's former number two and current acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, and assured that the White House is overseeing the work of its Executive Branch.

Before leaving for North Carolina, Trump also emphasized that Rodríguez is doing a "very, very good job" and praised the framework agreed with Caracas to reopen the Venezuelan crude oil production market to foreign oil companies under the strict control of Washington.

"The oil is coming out, and other nations are paying a lot of money for it, and we are taking care of it. We are refining it, and we are the only ones with the capacity to refine", Trump explained about the role that the American refineries of the Gulf of Mexico are playing, specialized in the processing of heavy crude, which is the one that is mainly produced in Venezuela.

The Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, made an important visit to Venezuela this week to meet with Rodriguez, and today the Treasury Department approved new licenses that further relax existing restrictions for non-Venezuelan oil companies to operate in the Caribbean country.
