Evo Morales says that the instability in Peru is due to the influence of the US

La Paz.- Bolivian ex-president Evo Morales assured that the dismissal this Tuesday of the interim president of Peru, José Jerí, less than two months before the general elections, is something that occurs in countries where, in his opinion, the United States "rules".

“Every country where the American empire rules does not have political and economic stability. Peru is the example. Its president Jerí only lasted four months. In five years, Peruvians had four presidents and in ten years: eight heads of state”, wrote Morales (2006-2019) on X.

The former ruler, who has not made public appearances for more than a month due to a case of dengue fever reported by his followers, also stated that "when the gringos govern" in Latin America "the people are always punished with reforms, debt, privatizations, destruction of rights and devaluations."

“The only way to avoid economic and political instability is to have worthy authorities who do not betray the homeland and the people; who are not racist; who defend our sovereignty and are not subservient to the US empire,” he added.

The Peruvian Congress removed interim president, the right-winger José Jerí, this Tuesday, less than two months before the general elections, in what becomes the eighth presidential change in almost a decade of political instability that began after the 2016 elections. Jerí was acting as President of Peru in his capacity as President of Congress, following the removal of President Dina Boluarte (2022-2025), so upon being censured as the highest authority of Parliament, he automatically lost his status as acting head of state. With 75 votes in favor, 24 against and three abstentions, the Peruvian Legislature resolved to remove Jerí from office due to the investigations opened against him during his short four-month term. The decision is due to semi-clandestine meetings with Chinese businessmen contracted by the State and alleged irregularities in the hiring of female officials who previously met with him at the Government Palace. The Congress of Peru will choose on Wednesday, in an extraordinary plenary session to be held from 6:00 p.m. local time (23:00 GMT), the new interim president of the country.
