The industrialists grouped in the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) reaffirmed the need to promote strategic actions that strengthen national productive development, during the celebration of the Industrial Meeting entitled "Strategic Actions for the productive development of the Dominican Republic", with the participation of the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes, Yayo Sanz Lovatón.

The president of AIRD, Julio Virgilio Brache, highlighted that industrial development constitutes a fundamental basis for economic growth, the generation of quality jobs, and the sustainability of the country. He emphasized that the Dominican industry has historically been a key pillar, not only for its contribution to the gross domestic product and formal employment, but also for its role in the articulation of the productive fabric and the supply of the domestic market.

Having the central conference, Sanz Lovatón indicated that the country's productive development today has a more solid productive and logistical platform, as well as better institutional stability, international confidence and a strategic closeness with the United States.

He also stated that strengthening the industry means more quality jobs, greater economic sovereignty and a more strategic insertion into the global economy, issues that the Government is addressing in collaboration with the private sector, academia and international cooperation.

During his intervention, Brache pointed out that the current international context, marked by pressures on energy costs, geopolitical tensions and logistical challenges, impacts the competitiveness of companies, which forces a rethinking of production models and insertion in global markets.

He emphasized that the construction of consensus and the promotion of effective public policies are necessary to address the country's structural challenges. He indicated that issues such as energy, the regulatory environment, formality, and quality employment should occupy a central place on the national agenda.

However, he highlighted the opportunities that the Dominican Republic has in the current global scenario, such as the reconfiguration of supply chains, proximity to strategic markets, and institutional stability, factors that can favor the development of a more innovative and sustainable industry.

The president of the AIRD valued the presence of Minister Sanz Lovatón as a sign of articulation between the public and private sectors, highlighting that only through a shared vision and coordinated actions will it be possible to consolidate a more robust and inclusive productive development.

Finally, he reiterated that strengthening the industry is not a sectoral objective, but a country bet, by pointing out that industrial growth translates into more formal employment, greater investment and progress for the entire Dominican Republic.

The activity concluded with a panel led by Mario Pujols, executive vice president of AIRD, in which Sanz Lovatón answered questions from the participants, reaffirming: "We seek a more productive, more competitive and sustainable industry and that transformation is only possible by working together."
