Retailers announce they will sell directly to small grocery stores to avoid price speculation

The National Central of United Retailers (CNDU) announced this Tuesday that it will market basic basket products directly to the colmados (small grocery stores), with applied discounts ranging from 15 to 30% of their costs. Ricardo Rosario, president of the entity, specified that among the products to be offered are garlic, onion, chicken, beans, plantains and others of mass consumption. He specified that the pre-sales of those products will take place on May 2nd and 3rd next during the "II Retail Business Convention 2026, in tune with the consumer", dedicated to President Luis Abinader and in recognition of the national industry, an activity that will be held at the Catalonia Hotel in Santo Domingo. "The billing of agricultural and industrial products will be done directly to the colmados, through the United Retailers Cooperative (COOPENADU), while the delivery of goods will take place at the Merca Santo Domingo," Rosario indicated.

II Convention

During the II Retail Business Convention 2026, "in tune with the consumer", the following topics will be discussed: market safety, white goods and their impact on consumers, the "A comer del campo al colmado" program and its impact, as well as neighborhood businesses and the competition from large chains. Likewise, at the business meeting they will discuss the topics of the power of women in MSMEs, the international participation of the General Warehouse Confederation of Argentina, time is running out for electronic invoicing, the impact of fuels, cash vs. credit at the corner store, and what Pro Consumidor will do with speculators. Rosario said that in this II Retail Business Convention 2026, the ministers of Agriculture, Industry and Commerce and Mipymes will attend, as well as the administrator of the Agricultural Bank.
