Miami.- NASA advanced the launch of the Roman telescope to the beginning of September, a machine that will map the universe at an unprecedented speed, the administrator of the federal agency, Jared Isaacman, reported this Tuesday at a press conference.
«Our team dedicated more than a decade of their lives and millions of hours to make this project a reality. Thanks to their hard work, I have the privilege of announcing today that we are aiming for a launch in early September, eight months ahead of schedule and under budget,» said Isaacson.
The space agency detailed that the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is considered one of the most powerful and ambitious due to its ability to map the universe on a scale and speed never before achieved.
The observatory, which is already fully assembled and has passed the final tests, will be sent to the Kennedy Space Center for final preparation before launch.
It will be part of NASA's set of great telescopes alongside the Hubble Space Telescope and the James Webb Space Telescope.
