The Ponce City Hall, in Puerto Rico, was the setting for the successful realization of the cultural exhibition "Dominican Costumbrismo", an initiative that brought together the Dominican community residing on the Island of Enchantment around their roots, traditions and identity.

The activity arose in response to the need to preserve and promote Dominican culture abroad, reinforcing the values, customs, and idiosyncrasies that characterize the Dominican people, regardless of their place of residence.

The exhibition's main objective was to foster a sense of belonging and strengthen cultural ties between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

Organized by the Invasión Cultural por una Cultura de Paz movement, founded by the artist Carlos Abad in 2015 in La Romana, the event is part of an agenda aimed at promoting art as a tool for social transformation, especially among young people and vulnerable communities. The initiative also promoted coexistence, solidarity, and peace through cultural exchange.

The exhibition brought together works by the artists Severo Soriano, Jimmy Medina, Carlos Abad, José Sánchez, Nelson Ferreras and Emely Rodríguez, and the outstanding Puerto Rican Martiza González, who presented various artistic expressions inspired by Dominican daily life, including landscapes, music, dance, sports and popular traditions.

Although each creator contributed their individual vision, all the pieces were unified under the concept of Dominican costumbrismo.

Especially, the night was enlivened by the Vandalismo Musical Dominicana: Los Hermanos del Merengue, directed by the outstanding musician Daniel Perez.

The attending public experienced a reunion with their cultural roots in an environment of integration and national pride. The exhibition, conceived as itinerant, has been previously presented in cities like San Juan and Ponce, consolidating itself as a space of connection for the Dominican diaspora.
