Santo Domingo Norte.– The mayor Betty Gerónimo carried out a supervision tour in the old fire station of the municipality, where she was able to verify the advanced state of deterioration and abandonment in which the infrastructure was found.
During the visit, the official showed that the place had been out of service for more than a decade, presenting critical conditions in both its physical structure and its basic facilities, which prevented any type of emergency operation.
Geronimo pointed out that the space was not only disabled, but had also been irregularly occupied, becoming a focus of insecurity. According to his explanation, the area registered the presence of people who used the facilities as an improvised shelter, as well as criminal acts that kept the community in turmoil.
“This was completely abandoned, in inhumane conditions, and represented a danger to the community,” said the mayor during the tour.
The municipal executive indicated that this scenario was one of the main reasons that prompted her administration to prioritize the recovery of the station, considering that it is an essential service for safety and emergency response in Santo Domingo Norte.
