COE places 2 provinces on red alert and keeps 7 on yellow alert

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center placed Puerto Plata and Espaillat on green alert, due to a prefrontal trough affecting the northwest of the country. Similarly, Monte Cristi, María Trinidad Sánchez, Hermanas Mirabal, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Santiago and San José de Ocoa are placed on yellow alert due to the interaction of the effects of the warm east-southeast wind, which will give rise to moderate to heavy showers, electrical storms and wind gusts. San Juan, Elías Piña, Duarte (especially Bajo Yuna), Samaná, Santo Domingo, Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, San José de Ocoa, San Cristóbal, Monte Plata, Peravia, Distrito Nacional and Sánchez Ramírez are on green alert.

In that sense, people are advised to refrain from crossing rivers, streams, and ravines with high water volumes and not to use spas in the provinces under alert. Similarly, on the Atlantic coast, operators of fragile, small and medium-sized vessels are advised to navigate near the coastal perimeter, without venturing out to sea due to moderate winds and abnormal waves.
