After months of information exchange between institutions from at least three countries, the rear admiral of the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), Fernando Farías Laguna, was detained in Argentina.
The arrest was made on April 23, months after the man did not attend an arraignment in Mexico. As he had an Interpol red notice, he was wanted in 192 countries.
From Mexico to Florida and then to Argentina
Before being located in the South American country, in August 2024, a trip to Florida, United States, was made and there were no records of him returning to national territory.
However, Fernando Farías was arrested in Argentina on April 23, the seizure was confirmed by Omar García Harfuch, head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC). That is why the capture was the result of the coordination of security forces from Mexico, Argentina and the US.

He was arrested for extradition purposes and was in possession of false documentation," the official highlighted.The information shared by the authorities indicates that she was carrying false documents; intelligence reports detail that it was a forged passport from Guatemala.
