NEW YORK. – Aaron Judge broke his home run drought in the best way possible by hitting a two-run homer in the ninth inning to give the New York Yankees a 2-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays at Yankee Stadium.

The star outfielder's golden hit came against Kevin Kelly and marked his fourth career game-winning home run, as well as the Yankees' third walk-off victory of the season. Judge had been in a slump, hitting just four hits in his last 35 at-bats.

The pitching duel was marked by the dominance of Ryan Weathers and Drew Rasmussen, who worked seven solid innings without allowing runs. The defense was also key for the New Yorkers, with Cody Bellinger standing out with an assist from the outfield to prevent a Tampa Bay score in the eighth inning.

Meanwhile, in Toronto, the Blue Jays had a complicated day after losing two of their main figures to physical ailments: pitcher Dylan Cease and the Dominican Vladimir Guerrero Jr..

Cease abandoned the encounter against Pittsburgh due to slight discomfort in his left hamstring during the fifth inning. Minutes later, Guerrero Jr. was hit by a pitch in his right elbow and immediately left the field.

The X-rays taken of the Dominican starting pitcher ruled out fractures, although the medical team will continue to evaluate his progress in the coming days. The preliminary diagnosis points to a contusion in the right elbow.

The situation increases concern in Toronto, an organization that has suffered multiple injuries during the season, especially in its pitching staff. The Blue Jays hope to have more precise updates on both players before the start of their next series against Miami.
