57-year-old man arrested for killing a 10-year-old child in Sabana Perdida

Santo Domingo. - The National Police, in coordination with the Public Ministry, arrested a 57-year-old man accused of killing a 10-year-old minor, whose lifeless body was found this Sunday in a wooded area of the Los Pinos sector, in Sabana Perdida, Santo Domingo Norte. The minor was identified as Y.P, son of a 30-year-old woman, residing in Santo Domingo Este. According to the death certificate, the body presented trauma in the neck region. It was sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) to accurately determine the cause of death and rule out or confirm the existence of sexual abuse. The detainee is José Antonio Glass (alias "Yoyon"), who was identified as the person responsible for the act, both by camera footage and human sources. During the uprising in the area, technicians from the Scientific Police collected several pieces of evidence, including a mamey-colored basketball, clothing, and other objects that will be analyzed as part of the investigative process. The National Police and Public Ministry express their solidarity with the victim's family, while reiterating their commitment to bring to justice anyone who endangers the life, integrity, and safety of children and adolescents. The institution keeps the investigation process open in coordination with the Public Prosecutor's Office, so that this case is fully clarified and the person responsible receives the corresponding sanctions.

By delving deeper into the investigation, the officers in charge detected that Glass (alias "Yoyon") had been apprehended in 2009 and sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor.
