Antonio Espaillat's wife and daughter arrive at the Ciudad Nueva Courthouse

Santo Domingo.- Amidst the legal proceedings against businessman Antonio Espaillat for the collapse of the Jet Set nightclub's roof, his wife, Montserrat Namnum Puigbó, and his daughter, Sofía Espaillat, appeared this afternoon at the Palacio de Justicia de Ciudad Nueva. The arrival occurs while the Public Ministry continues to advance in the request for coercive measures against Espaillat, accused, along with his sister Maribel Espaillat, of incurring serious negligence by not intervening in a timely manner in the face of the structural risks of the establishment, whose collapse left 236 people dead and more than 180 injured.

Both Monserrat and her daughter avoided giving statements to the press upon entering the courthouse. The authorities have not yet reported whether the businessman's relatives will appear as part of the investigative process or in personal support. More details are expected to be known in the coming hours about the coercive measure that would be requested against Antonio Espaillat.
