Santo Domingo. – Four months after the tragedy at the Jet Set nightclub, which claimed the lives of more than 200 people, doña Melba Grullón, president of the Sur Futuro Foundation, shared an emotional message on her Instagram account remembering her daughter Alexandra Grullón, one of the fatalities.
With words full of love and pain, doña Melba expressed how time has passed without her perceiving the passage of days and nights, while the void left by the absence of her daughter becomes deeper and deeper. She remembered a pending gift, some earrings she had bought for Alexandra, symbolizing the eternal bond that unites them.
Amid her pain, doña Melba announced that the Alexandra Scholarship Fund has been created, a project that she and a group of collaborators, including Milton, Servio Tulio, Kathia, Ariel, Maja, Eva, Radel and Eduardo, are promoting to support children and families affected by the tragedy, honoring the memory of Alexandra and the legacy of generosity that her father taught them.

Alexandra Grullón was a young woman loved for her simplicity and sweetness. She had married less than a year before with Eduardo Guarionex Estrella Cruz, son of the former president of the Senate and current Minister of Public Works, Eduardo Estrella. Doña Melba, a recognized social leader with a long history of community service and humanitarian aid, concluded her message with an expression of faith and strength: “I remain firm, for I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13)."In a matter of days, we will announce the first scholarship package for those children without parents, brothers without sisters, and wives without husbands," stated doña Melba, showing her commitment to solidarity and social development.
