Santo Domingo Norte.- Ruth Esther Medina, eldest daughter of Mrs. Nancy Mejía Soto, calls for justice following the incident in which her mother lost her life after a traffic incident that occurred on December 30th, around 6:00 in the evening, at the Matagorda crossing, in the community of Punta, Villa Mella. According to Medina, his mother was riding a red scooter, accompanied by her partner, when she was hit by a white truck on a curve of the aforementioned section. As a result of the collision, both fell to the pavement and the truck suffered a broken taillight. According to the version explained by the victim's husband, who witnessed the events, the driver of the still unidentified truck got out of the vehicle and an argument ensued, as he demanded payment for the damage, while the couple claimed they were not responsible, as they had been the ones affected by the impact.

Later, Nancy Mejía and her companion left the place on their scooter, while the driver of the truck left in his vehicle. Minutes later, in a dark and lonely area, the aggressor caught up with them and fired three shots, mortally wounding Mrs. Mejía Soto. Her husband was also injured, although without fatal consequences. "It was by a little bit that they killed her," expressed with pain Ruth Esther Medina, who assured that her mother was a hardworking woman, dedicated to domestic service and childcare, and who always fought to raise her four children. The family demands that the person responsible be identified, apprehended, and brought to justice. Although the National Police is conducting an ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made so far, and the vehicle involved would not be registered in the name of the aggressor. "My mom's husband is collaborating with the authorities, visiting the Dicrim and looking for security cameras. The only thing we ask for is justice," Medina concluded.
