Santo Domingo.– The president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo, informed that, although the bidding process for the new ID card was temporarily postponed, the organization maintains its goal of starting the preliminary renewal of the document in the last quarter of this year.
Jáquez Liranzo explained that the JCE Tendering Committee decided to postpone the opening of the economic envelope of the tendering process, which was scheduled for this Wednesday, August 7, due to a challenge filed by one of the consortia disqualified in the technical phase.

“The bidding process is in accordance with due process. The Committee has postponed, until further notice, the opening of the financial envelope until the challenge is known and the consortium's right to defense is also respected,” stated the president of the electoral body.
However, despite this administrative delay, Jáquez Liranzo reaffirmed that the Central Electoral Board continues to work with the projection. "In the last quarter of this year we will begin the preliminary renewal process of the new identity card and the electoral identity card," he concluded.
