The Central Electoral Board (JCE) approved Resolution 9-2025, establishing a new single format for all civil status records, eliminating the formats known as "extract" and "inextensa".

This measure will come into effect next Tuesday, July 1, 2025, and seeks to streamline procedures and improve efficiency in services related to civil registration.

With this provision, the documents corresponding to birth, recognition, marriage, divorce, and death will be issued under a single standardized model, available both in the country and in the consular and service offices of the JCE abroad.

The implementation of this new format will not affect the identity card renewal process and will contribute to offering a more agile and simplified service for citizens, through the National Directorate of Civil Registry.
