Santo Domingo.- The Second Collegiate Tribunal of the National District declared not guilty, early this Thursday, to Carmen Magalys Medina Sánchez and Fernando Rosa, who faced charges of alleged embezzlement and administrative corruption in an operation that would have moved more than one billion pesos.

Both were pointed out by the Public Ministry for benefiting, directly or indirectly, from the network led by Alexis Medina Sánchez. In the trial, the prosecution affirmed that, from their positions as president and vice president of the Patrimonial Fund of Reformed Companies (Fonper), they allowed companies linked to Medina Sánchez to be winners in multiple tenders without noticing that they shared the same partners. About the case

The Antipulpo case, opened in 2020, became one of the most relevant corruption files in the Dominican Republic. The Public Ministry accuses Alexis Medina Sánchez, brother of former president Danilo Medina, of heading a network of companies that, taking advantage of their closeness to political power, obtained millionaire contracts from the State in violation of the Law on Purchases and Contracting.

The investigation includes charges of conspiracy, fraud, money laundering, and other crimes against several former officials and associates. According to the authorities, the scheme operated for years and generated millions in profits at the expense of public funds.
