Man who murdered his ex-partner with 14 stab wounds in Azua sent to trial

Santo Domingo.- The Azua Instruction Court sent a man to trial accused by the Public Ministry of murdering his ex-partner last year in the victim's home, in the municipality of Las Charcas, in the province of Azua. According to the record, Edward Manuel Alcántara, inflicted 14 stab wounds on Yasmerys Alexandra Sánchez Santana.

The investigation of the case was carried out by prosecutor Arodis Sánchez, while in the litigation the Public Ministry is represented by prosecutor Mercedes Soriano Sánchez. The defendant is in prison in the Azua Kilometer 15 prison on charges of aggravated homicide. The file indicates that the event occurred on December 8, 2024, around 5:00 in the morning, on Respaldo La Altagracia street, in the Pueblo Nuevo sector of the aforementioned municipality. Judge Dayana Gil issued the order to open the trial upon establishing the Public Prosecutor's Office that the defendant's criminal responsibility is compromised for violating several articles of the Dominican Penal Code.
