Santo Domingo.– Edward Reyes publicly denounced having been the victim of a scam for an amount of 700 thousand pesos, allegedly committed by a man identified as Francisco Alcántara, who pretended to be an employee of the General Customs Directorate, and his supposed secretary, Carmen Columnas. Reyes assured that both defendants have outstanding arrest warrants and are fugitives from justice. According to his testimony, the scam occurred within the framework of a negotiation for the purchase of three vehicles that were never delivered.

“Mr. Francisco Alcántara gained my trust by posing as the driver of Eduardo Lobatón, a Customs official. At first, I wasn't interested, but he ended up convincing me. I gave him 300 thousand pesos first, then another 300 thousand, and finally 100 thousand,” related Reyes, who claims to have all the necessary evidence for legal action to be taken against those responsible.

The complainant stated that they have kept their complaint active for a year, despite the fact that other affected parties have given up along the way. "I haven't gotten tired. I'm going to get him. He already has an arrest warrant, and if anyone else has been scammed by him, let them report it too," they exhorted. Reyes asked the citizenry to collaborate with information that may help locate those involved, and reiterated his willingness to continue with the legal process until justice is served. The authorities have not yet offered official statements on the case or the whereabouts of the accused.
