PN and MP seize weapons and military supplies in raid in Santiago; a man arrested

Santiago — In a joint operation, the National Police and the Public Ministry carried out a raid in the Los Cocos sector of Jacagua, in Santiago, which resulted in the arrest of a man and the seizure of firearms, ammunition, and military equipment.

The intervention was carried out by agents of the Cibao Central Regional Sub-Directorate of Intelligence (Dintel), in coordination with members of the Preventive Police, the SWAT team, and representatives of the Public Ministry, in compliance with judicial order No. 2025-AJ0035575.

During the operation, Rodolfo Alfonso Cabrera Peña, 58 years old, was arrested, and various objects of a warlike nature were seized from him. Among the items seized were a Akkar brand shotgun, 12 gauge, with a permanent license, and a S&W brand revolver, without legal documentation, along with 11 12-gauge cartridges, one of them fired. In addition, six .38 caliber capsules, a casing of the same caliber, a 30-round magazine, a bulletproof vest, military-style pants, a fabric holster for a revolver and a cell phone were seized. The detainee and everything seized were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office, which will determine the corresponding legal measures in the coming hours. Authorities reported that investigations are ongoing to determine whether the seized objects are linked to other illicit activities in the area.
