BREAKING NEWS, SANTO DOMINGO.– The beginning of the week arrives with unstable weather conditions for a large part of the national territory, according to the most recent bulletin from the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet).
The combination of a trough in the upper levels of the troposphere and the east/southeast wind is generating, since morning hours, cloudiness accompanied by showers and scattered thunderstorms, mainly in areas near the Atlantic and Caribbean coasts, including Greater Santo Domingo.
During the afternoon, an increase in rainfall activity is expected, with moderate to heavy intensity precipitation, thunderstorms, and wind gusts that could affect locations in the interior of the country. Among the provinces with the highest probability of impacts are: La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, La Romana, Samaná, Duarte, María Trinidad Sánchez, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Espaillat, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, and San Juan, among others. These conditions could extend into the night, so the population is advised to remain attentive to the notices and alerts issued by official organizations.
The hot weather will also persist, with maximum temperatures ranging between 32°C and 34°C, and minimums between 21°C and 23°C. Indomet calls for taking preventive measures against the heat, such as constant hydration, wearing light and light-colored clothing, and avoiding direct sun exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., especially in vulnerable people such as children and the elderly.Forecast for Greater Santo Domingo:
- National District: Increasing cloudiness during the night and early morning, with the possibility of showers and isolated thunderstorms.
- Santo Domingo North, East and West: Similar conditions, with occasional cloud developments and episodes of scattered showers and nocturnal electrical discharges.
