SAN VÍCTOR, MOCA.– Luis Manuel Molina was identified as the driver of the bus that was transporting at least 60 people and that crashed on Sunday night in the area of La Cabirma, on the San Víctor–Jamao al Norte road.
Molina lost his life along with four other people according to the preliminary report, while more than 40 were injured, some seriously, after the overturning of the vehicle, belonging to the company known as "La Banderita."
The bus, which was returning from Playa Grande in Río San Juan with excursionists mostly residents of the municipality of Esperanza, Valverde province, had reportedly lost its brakes before overturning and ending up across the road.
The injured were transferred to different health centers in Moca, Santiago, and other nearby locations, in ambulances from the 9-1-1 System and private vehicles.
Authorities continue investigations to determine the exact causes of the accident, while family members and friends of the victims are in different medical centers.
