Two people die after collision between motorcycle and bus on Bayahíbe highway

La Altagracia.- Two men died this Friday after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a bus on a curve on the Bayahíbe highway, in the province of La Altagracia. The victims were identified as Samuel Estime and Brice Marc Arthur, both of Haitian nationality and residents of the Benerito community. According to preliminary information, the two men were heading to their workplace when they were allegedly surprised by a patrol from the General Directorate of Migration. In the midst of trying to escape, they accelerated the motorcycle and ended up hitting a bus used to transport hotel employees in the area. Due to the strong impact, both died at the scene, without the teams of the National Emergency Attention System 9-1-1 being able to assist them.

The accident caused extensive traffic congestion for several hours, with traffic being restored after the removal of the bodies. Family members and colleagues of the victims initially opposed the removal of the bodies by the authorities, arguing that they were two low-income workers. The bodies were finally lifted and transferred by INACIF personnel to the morgue of the Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia Hospital, in the municipality of Higüey.
