Santo Domingo,.- The Dominican Association of Poultry Farming (ADA) reported this Thursday that the national production of broiler chickens for this month reaches 24.7 million units, a volume that allows covering the expected demand and the supply of the market during the season of greatest consumption of the year, such as Christmas and New Year.
The entity highlighted in a note that, in response to the increase in demand typical of the celebration of Christmas Eve, in the next two weeks the national supply will rise to an average of 850,000 chickens daily placed in the live chicken market, which represents an approximate increase of 22% in availability. You may be interested in: http://Escasez de pollo y altos precios en mercados de la capital
Regarding farm gate prices, the ADA explained that affiliated producers, who represent more than 80% of national production, maintain an average price of 48 pesos per pound. While in the more than 150 popular points of sale distributed nationally and managed by members of the association, hot processed chicken is sold for around 72 pesos per pound. The ADA recalled that the live chicken distribution system in the Dominican Republic works as a broad chain of trust, involving up to five different actors, from the farm to the final consumer. In that process, it was pointed out, speculative distortions may occur that are not directly attributed to either the producers or the authorities of the sector, but which can affect the final price to the consumer. The Dominican Poultry Association reiterated its commitment to production stability, market "transparency," and the country's food security, while calling on all actors in the marketing chain to act responsibly, especially in a time of high consumption for Dominican families.
