Proindustria and allies launch program for industrial startups

Santo Domingo.– The Industrial Development and Competitiveness Center (Proindustria), in alliance with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Loyola Polytechnic Institute (IPL), launched on Thursday the Industrial Startups Acceleration Program in the Dominican Republic.

The activity, held in the auditorium of ProDominicana, brought together authorities, representatives of allied institutions, and 100 selected entrepreneurs. The General Director of Proindustria, Rafael Cruz Rodríguez, highlighted that the initiative stems from a shared vision to promote innovation in the manufacturing industrial sector, enhancing local talent and creating real opportunities for entrepreneurs with vision and determination.

"Innovation is no longer an option; it is the indispensable condition to compete, grow, and lead in a world that evolves without pause," he affirmed.

The UNDP Deputy Resident Representative, Sanja Bojanic, highlighted that the program seeks to convert ideas into sustainable businesses, through an approach that integrates technical and business training, digital skills, leadership, sustainability, and financial inclusion. “Today we take the first step on a path we walk together”, she said. From the IPL, Iris Brito reaffirmed the institution's commitment to capacity development and the promotion of prototyping. "By uniting ties, we can project the development of the states that each of you possesses, so that they have sustainable products and services, with great growth and development in our market," she expressed.

For his part, Kota Sakaguchi, representative of JICA, emphasized the value of this alliance to strengthen the industry and promote innovation. “Every sector needs innovation, and those who are going to lead it are the state entrepreneurs; you are the protagonists”, he pointed out.

The program includes training, mentoring, prototyping, and personalized advice for four months, with the support of national and international experts. The organizing institutions noted that this alliance seeks to become a replicable model to strengthen the business fabric, generate jobs, and contribute to a more competitive economy.
