Santo Domingo.– The renowned NYO Jazz orchestra from Carnegie Hall in New York offered a sold-out concert in the Carlos Piantini Hall of the Eduardo Brito National Theater, in a presentation produced by the Sinfonía Foundation that celebrated the richness and evolution of jazz.
Under the direction of trumpeter Sean Jones, one of the current great ambassadors of jazz, and with the special participation of Grammy-winning singer Luciana Souza, the group made up of young talents from all over the United States displayed a show loaded with technique, creativity and emotion.
Jones expressed his gratitude and commitment to young talent, highlighting the sensitivity and harmony that only jazz can convey. Vocalist Souza paid tribute to Brazilian composers such as Antônio Carlos Jobim and Ivan Lins, showing her enthusiasm for sharing the stage with the orchestra and the Sinfonía Foundation.
The Sinfonía Foundation highlighted the importance of this collaboration to promote music as a tool for inspiration and transformation, and to strengthen the relationship with Carnegie Hall, a global symbol of artistic excellence.
The repertoire included works by greats such as Count Basie, Christian McBride, and Dafnis Prieto, with premieres that reflected the versatility and talent of the musicians.
In addition, the National Theater offered a thematic atmosphere with tributes to jazz legends and an exclusive "listening bar" sponsored by Banco Popular Dominicano, which transported attendees to the universe of the genre.
The concert was supported by important sponsors and cultural allies, and will have a free presentation in Santiago on August 6th, thanks to the León Jiménes Foundation and other collaborators.
A memorable night that reaffirmed the power of jazz as a universal language and a generational bridge between cultures.
