Shelow Shaq criticizes the government and denounces social problems in new song "Ta de pinga"

Santo Domingo.– The urban music exponent Shelow Shaq criticized both the actions and omissions of the Dominican government through a new musical theme titled “Ta de pinga”.

The musical piece, published in video format on its YouTube channel, uses a jocular tone and the rhythm of dembow to recount events that have marked the last few months in the country. Among them, the march against Haitian migration in Friusa, the tragedy at the Jet Set nightclub, the loans approved in the National Congress, the increase in remittances, the corruption scandals, and the seizures of speakers carried out by the Ministry of Interior, headed by Faride Raful.

José Luis Peralta, the artist's given name, uses this single to criticize what he considers a weak response from the authorities to serious cases, such as the collapse of the Jet Set nightclub, a tragedy that claimed the lives of more than 230 people. With a phrase repeated by the public, he poses a direct question: “And the Jet Set, who is responsible for that?”

The music video was filmed in a neighborhood of Santo Domingo and stands out for its simple production, far from the visual opulence characteristic of many urban genre artists. With a single camera, neighborhood residents as protagonists, and locations that include streets, alleys, a room, and a "colmado" (small grocery store), Shelow seeks a more organic and realistic connection with his audience.

With a duration of just over three minutes, the audiovisual positioned itself as the number one musical trend on YouTube in less than 15 hours after its publication. In addition to the political and social references, the song also touches on aspects of the local entertainment scene: it mentions urban artists Dillon Baby and Onguito Wa —both currently in prison—, the acquisition of a new vehicle by El Alfa, the physical transformation of Bulin 47, the romantic relationships of Rochy RD and the media exposure of Amelia Alcántara.
