Santo Domingo. – Producer and communicator Juan Carlos Albelo suggested this Wednesday to the Association of Art Journalists (Acroarte) to award the Gran Soberano to Santiago Matías, whom he defined as one of the most influential and transcendent figures in communication and entertainment in the Dominican Republic.
Albelo expressed that Matías has managed to build one of the country's most far-reaching digital platforms, whose contents have transcended borders and placed the international gaze on the Dominican Republic.

“Santiago Matías has built one of the most transcendent sites in terms of audience, not only here, but also outwards. ‘La Casa de Alofoke’ at this moment brings together the most prominent figures in terms of popularity in the country. That milestone deserves an award as big as the Gran Soberano”, Albelo stated.
The communicator recalled that in the 90s, Acroarte awarded the Gran Soberano to Ángel Muñiz and Luisito Martí for the impact of the program Nueva York I, and noted that the creation of Matías has a similar magnitude. Albelo also suggested that the Ministry of Tourism should recognize Matías for promoting the Dominican Republic on international stages, highlighting that his platform has generated interest in the country from different latitudes. “Santiago Matías has made the world turn and look at the Dominican Republic. That is promotion, and I think he deserves that recognition”, concluded Albelo.
