Toxic Crow, artistic name of Luis Enrique Caunavo Mesa, is an influential urban artist born on November 13, 1981 in Los Mina, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He is considered one of the pioneers of rap and tiradera in the country, standing out for his confrontational lyrics, street style and his contribution to the evolution of the Dominican urban genre.
Who is Toxic Crow?
His artistic career dates back to 1998, when he was part of the group Ministerio Profético, along with G-Magnun, Packer Lutherking, Baticano and Qiw, classmates from the Favio A. Mota High School. This collective focused on portraying social reality through underground hip hop.
After its dissolution in 2000, Peso Completo was born, a group that he integrated along with Danny Punto Rojo and other previous members, with a bolder approach, addressing urban themes with lyrics in Spanish and English. From that stage emerged songs like “Al Estilo Nuestro”, “Cleaning The Mic”, “Noche de Copas” and “Bastardos en el Paraíso”.
Complot Records and Artistic Evolution
Subsequently, they founded Complot Records, a label that produced the mixtape “En Mi Barrio”, featuring Lapiz Conciente, Charles Family, and Mr. Rostro. Then he released the album “Sin Rivales”, consolidating his presence in the genre and highlighting tracks like “Cape El Dough” and “Atento”.Rivalry with Lapiz Conciente and “La Unión”
In 2006, Toxic Crow founded Estilo Kallejero, his own music label, and that same year initiated an intense rivalry with Lapiz Conciente, which marked one of the most notorious diss tracks in Dominican rap. Although there were attempts at reconciliation, tensions persisted, which motivated Toxic Crow to release the song “La Unión”, calling for peace in the movement.
Collaborations and Musical Influence
During his career, he has collaborated with renowned figures in the urban scene such as Arcángel, Lito y Polaco, Vakero, Mozart La Para, El Poeta Callejero, Temperamento, Cassidy, and his ex-wife La Insuperable, with whom he did several works together.
Separation of La Insuperable
After more than 15 years of marriage and two daughters together, La Insuperable publicly confirmed her separation from Toxic Crow on the radio program Jessica en Punto. She stated that she has no intention of reconciliation, as she is focused on her artistic career and her daughters.
“Solution for now, on my part no… Things are serious. There are cycles that close, nothing lasts forever,” expressed the artist, making it clear that the breakup is final.Although he avoided revealing the reasons for the separation, he acknowledged that the business and family bond they built —including a significant real estate empire— was not enough to sustain the marriage.
