An Air India plane makes an emergency landing in Thailand after a bomb threat

Bangkok.- An Air India plane carrying 156 passengers and 8 crew members from Phuket to New Delhi had to return and make an emergency landing on the Thai island after a bomb threat, according to airport authorities, who found no explosives in their inspections. Phuket's tourist airport received a notification at 9:30 local time (2:30 GMT) that the pilot of flight AI 379 had found "a bomb threat message" when the aircraft was in the air, the airfield said via a Facebook statement.

In the same, he assured that he implemented the corresponding emergency plan, which included the review of the aircraft's tanks and the passengers' luggage. The aircraft was parked in a secluded location and all passengers were evacuated and taken to a safe area while specialized teams searched unsuccessfully for suspicious objects. In another statement, published hours later, the airport added that the message with the threat was found in one of the toilets and that they have not yet been able to identify the culprit. The authorities announced the end of the contingency plan after the passengers took off in another plane to India.
