According to the FSB, both men were arrested while preparing to blow up a railway bridge. Russian investigators established that in June 2022, the detained young man traveled abroad, where he contacted Ukrainian forces via Telegram and expressed his willingness to cooperate free of charge in the preparation and execution of terrorist attacks and acts of sabotage on Russian territory. Upon returning to Russia, he recruited his father, who shared his anti-Russian views, to engage in criminal activities, the FSB added. The young man confessed during the interrogation that he did not support the war in Ukraine and that its beginning was a "black day for him". "It's something that shouldn't have happened," he assured, stating that he is "for the people and against evil."
