The health condition of Colombian senator and presidential pre-candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay, who was the victim this Saturday of an attack with a firearm, "is of the utmost severity and the prognosis is reserved", reported this Sunday the Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation in a statement, hours after the politician underwent surgery.
"After the procedures, neurosurgical and on the left thigh, he was transferred to intensive care for postoperative stabilization," the organization said, assuring that the information is provided "under authorization from the family."

Uribe was the target of an assassination attempt in Bogotá that has moved the country and the international community. The attack occurred on Saturday west of the Colombian capital, when the senator was participating in a political event in a sector of the Modelia park in the town of Fontibón. According to witness accounts, the attacker approached the politician from behind and shot him at close range.
The politician was hit by several shots, which caused him serious injuries between the neck and head. With traces of blood on his face and shirt, he was urgently transferred to the hospital of the Santa Fe Foundation of Bogotá.
The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, confirmed that the attacker "is a minor and is alive and captured" by the National Protection Unit. "He was paid, undoubtedly", he added.
The identity of the teenager has not been revealed to ensure the judicial process. However, it is reported that the minor has no prior record and was injured while escaping the scene of the attack.
