Sports writing (EFE).- Pau Alsina, a 17-year-old Catalan driver from the Estrella Galicia team, died this Monday in a hospital in Zaragoza where he was admitted after suffering a serious accident last Saturday in a training session at the MotorLand Aragón circuit, the Aragonese Government confirmed this Monday in a statement.
In a heartfelt message, his team, Estrella Galicia 0,0, reminded the pilot: "Pau's commitment, energy, and attitude, always positive and approachable, will remain forever in our memory. Rest in peace, Pau. T'estimem (We love you)."
The young pilot, a native of the Barcelona municipality of Sallent de Llobregat, was competing in training sessions for the FIM Junior GP championship, whose next race will be held next weekend at the Aragon speed circuit, located in the town of Alcañiz, in Teruel, for which he started as thirteenth in the ranking.
The Government of Aragon has wanted to express its "most sincere condolences" for the death and has conveyed its condolences to his family, colleagues and friends.
Born on January 22, 2008, Alsina combined his studies with the world of competition, according to his website. There, he details that he started in motorcycling at the age of 3, guided by his father.
In a dark month for Spanish motorcycling, the death of Alsina takes place 18 days after that of Borja Gómez, a 20-year-old rider from Murcia, who died on July 3 after suffering an accident while riding on the French circuit of Magny Cours.
