Brayan Bello throws his first complete game and leads Red Sox to victory at Fenway Park

BOSTON. — On a magical night at Fenway Park, Dominican right-hander Brayan Bello lived an unforgettable moment by pitching a nine-inning complete game for the first time in his career, leading the Boston Red Sox to a 10-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies.

Cheered from left field by teammate Jarren Durán, who was yelling as if he were in high school, Bello maintained his focus until the final out. He finished his work with 10 strikeouts, five hits allowed and only two runs, signing one of the most dominant performances of his young career. "It was a dream come true," Bello confessed after the game. "I was super happy to be able to go out in the ninth and finish it. I'll never forget it."
Although he didn't achieve a shutout, his dominance from the first inning was evident. He began the game throwing six consecutive strikes, striking out the first two batters and needing only seven pitches to close the initial inning. Bello remained perfect for more than three innings, until an infield hit broke his attempt at a feat. The leader Alex Cora highlighted the pitcher's control and aggressiveness: “He dominated from the start. He got ahead in the count and kept the hitters off balance”.

Despite a slight delay before the ninth inning —when Bello lost his PitchCom device—, the Dominican returned to the mound and sealed his victory with a devastating changeup against Ryan McMahon, unleashing the ovation of the more than 30,000 fans present.

For their part, the Red Sox's offense backed up the pitching gem with two consecutive attacks: four runs in the sixth inning and six more in the seventh. In this last episode, Trevor Story hit a three-run homer against his former team and Jarren Durán connected on a home run of 456 feet, the longest at Fenway this season. Boston (48-45) got its fifth straight win and has won seven of its last eight games, getting closer in the fight for the wildcard. Bello, who has pitched six or more innings in five of his last six starts, seems to have found his best version right before the All-Star break. “The way I felt today I had not experienced before in my career. I feel strong, I feel in control”, concluded the Dominican, become one of the most reliable arms of the Red Sox rotation.
