Loma de Cabrera, Dajabón. – Major League Baseball player Julio Rodríguez led the inauguration this Monday of a renovated sports complex in his hometown of Loma de Cabrera, as a result of a personal investment that exceeded US$1.3 million, aimed at improving the sports and community infrastructure of the border area.

The event was attended by family members, local authorities, and professional players, including Juan Soto, Fernando Tatis Jr., and Luis Castillo. The work included the transformation of the municipality's main baseball field, which became the first public play with artificial turf in the Dominican Republic, in addition to other complementary facilities. The project was developed with the support of the No Limits Foundation and Green Hope foundations, linked to the baseball player, and the construction was carried out by Orlova Group. According to the organizers, the main objective is to offer adequate and safe spaces for the sports practice of children and young people in the community. The complex has three baseball fields, a main stadium and two tee-ball fields, a soccer field, a professional drainage system, covered stands, lighting, bathrooms, batting cages and bullpen areas, allowing its use for multiple disciplines and training activities. During the ceremony, Rodríguez expressed that the land is part of his personal history and that the initiative seeks to contribute to the integral development of the new generations of the municipality. In addition to his sporting achievements, the baseball player collaborated with the acquisition of an ambulance for the municipality and the remodeling of the local cultural center, as part of a broader community program. The activities also included visual health days, sports clinics, and the delivery of more than 7,500 toys and sporting goods, as part of the celebrations for Three Kings Day. Julio Rodríguez, 25 years old, debuted in the Major Leagues in 2022, a season in which he was selected Rookie of the Year. In four seasons he has accumulated two seasons with at least 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases, and holds a long-term contract with the Seattle Mariners.
