SANTO DOMINGO. Major League Baseball experienced one of its most impactful days in recent years this Sunday: Rafael Devers, a star figure for the Boston Red Sox, was traded to the San Francisco Giants, a move that has sparked strong reactions in the baseball world, including a direct criticism from former Dominican player Manny Ramírez.

In statements offered to journalist Héctor Gómez, Ramírez, a legend of the Boston team and a key member of the 2004 title, did not mince words:

The Red Sox handled Rafael Devers very poorly. They should have talked to him from the beginning about moving him from his position and not spring that on him during spring training. That was very bad for the organization and shows the GM's lack of experience and the team's lack of guidance. They should never have treated Devers like that”, Manny expressed with evident annoyance.

The trade of Devers, who was the face of the franchise after the departure of other pillars like Mookie Betts and Xander Bogaerts, took both fans and specialists by surprise.

An Internal Fracture in Boston

Reports close to the team indicate that the conflict began during spring training, when the club belatedly notified Devers that he would be moved from third base, a decision that, according to those close to him, was never well received by the Dominican player.

A New Chapter in San Francisco

Devers, 28, arrives at the Giants with a multi-year contract still in effect and the expectation of being a key piece in the team's offensive reconstruction. San Francisco is betting on his power, leadership, and postseason experience.
