Los Suero guide Mauricio Báez to a close victory over Los Prados

Santo Domingo,. The Mauricio Báez club once again relied on the Suero brothers' offense to defeat Los Prados 84-82, in a match held this Sunday at the Ricardo Gioriver Arias Volleyball Pavilion, corresponding to the regular season of the 49th Superior Basketball Tournament of the National District (TBS Distrito 2025).

Since their return to the tournament in 2016, after a 13-year absence, the Mauritians have had in Juan Miguel and Gerardo Suero the engine of their success. This time was no exception:
  • Juan Miguel Suero led with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
  • Gerardo Suero added 18 points and 4 rebounds.
The foreign contribution was also key: Tony Farmer added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, while Jaquar Lighfoot scored 9 units.

Los Prados batallaron hasta el final

By Los Prados, Eddy Mercedes (Chiquito Irving) shined with a double-double of 21 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists, coming close to a triple-double. Also, B.J. Fitzgerald with 17, William Cruz with 16 and Daytone Jennings, who contributed 14 points and 9 rebounds, stood out.

Positions and Upcoming Calendar

With the victory, the team of Villa Juana takes the top of Group A with a record of 2-1, achieving its second consecutive victory, while Los Prados falls to 1-2. The tournament, organized by the National District Basketball Association (Abadina), chaired by Colonel Diego Pesqueira, and with a committee headed by José Ignacio Paliza, Minister of the Presidency, is dedicated this year to the Dominican Sports Immortal Evaristo Pérez.
