National basketball team finishes undefeated in group stage

Santo Domingo, DR.. The Dominican Republic's national basketball team concluded the first phase of the 2025 AmeriCup with a flourish, defeating Nicaragua's team 74-70 this Monday, despite the absence of four suspended players.

With this triumph, the Venezuelan quintet finished undefeated in the group stage, accumulating six points in the general table and a positive differential of +30, consolidating itself as one of the most solid teams in the tournament. The Dominican tour included a comfortable victory against Colombia in the debut, followed by a high-voltage duel against Argentina, which was defined in extra time in favor of the Dominican team. In the match against Nicaragua, Ángel Núñez was the star figure, scoring 17 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and shooting an effective 6 of 11 from the field, including four three-pointers in seven attempts. Alongside him, Joel Soriano contributed 16 units and seven rebounds, while Jean Montero registered 11 points. For his part, Andrés Féliz added nine and Jassel Pérez collaborated with seven.
