In this way, the blue and burgundy entity, which in October 2024 already renewed the player from El Campillo (Huelva) until 2029 with a release clause of 500 million euros, protects a footballer who has become a key piece of their project.

Since his debut with the first team in August 2023 under the orders of Xavi Hernández, the Andalusian player has played a total of 113 matches in which he has scored 29 goals and provided 19 assists.

Debut in 2024 with the Spanish National Team

His good performance with the Catalan team allowed him to debut, in June 2024, with the Spanish national team, of which he has become a regular in the calls of coach Luis de la Fuente.

This season - Hansi Flick's second on the Barcelona bench - he has already reached double digits in goals (10) and assists (10).

And that's even though in August he was tempted to change teams by a dizzying offer from Chelsea, but the Huelva midfielder decided to continue at Barcelona.

Finally, the Barcelona sports management has rewarded the notable performance of the youth player with an improved contract for a footballer whose path to settling in the elite was not easy.

Fermín began to stand out at Recreativo de Huelva before playing for Betis, a club he left at the age of fifteen to pack his bags and settle in La Masia.

‘Fermín the little one’

His beginnings in the lower categories of Barça were not easy. He did not develop physically like his teammates, he lacked strength in his shot and sought to improve other skills. He was not a starter in either the infantil or the cadet teams, but everything changed when he reached the youth team. And that's why they nicknamed him 'Fermín the little one'. He then began to grow, physically and in football. He was the author, for example, of the goal that gave the youth league title to the Barcelona in the 2021-22 season. He renewed for two more years and made the leap to Barça Atlètic.
