San José de las Matas is one of the tourist destinations that is on the radar of ecotourism enthusiasts.
This municipality of the Dominican Republic, which is located in the province of Santiago de los Caballeros, has seen in recent years a large number of tourists who have rediscovered its natural resources and have made it fashionable.
Currently Sajoma, as it is popularly known, has four attractions that everyone who comes to do tourism must take into account.
La Milagrosa Church

With this non-ecotourism, but religious, attraction, part of the tour of this point of the country begins. It is a Catholic church located in the community of Damajagua Los Montones.
It was inaugurated on December 14, 2003, and is characterized by being built with pine heartwood logs, with a mix of modern styles, in addition to the touch of the great German churches in its design.
It has a capacity for 100 people comfortably seated and was donated by Don Manuel Arsenio Ureña and his wife Camelia Rodríguez to the Catholic church.
Aguas Calientes
After the religious part, Sajoma presents several natural attractions, and one of the main ones is this thermal water park located in the community of Los Montones.
This is a refreshing project with two pools, the first, small, is fed by the thermal waters that flow through a small pipe that the community had installed to the vein that springs from the rocks.
While the second and larger one, is fed by both the hot and fresh water from the river that passes, to balance its temperature.
Likewise, you will find a path of over 300 meters to the pool and to "La Playita", a famous bathing resort in Bao at this point.
Arroyo Hondo Theme Park

It is located on the banks of the Inoa River. It was here that the first hydroelectric plant in the Caribbean was founded in 1942. Due to deterioration and lack of maintenance, it had to close. It was rebuilt and enabled by the authorities in 2015. This area of Sajoma is today a tourist spot that is visited by thousands of national and foreign vacationers every year.
The park is a perfect place for recreation and fun with family or friends. It has wonderful areas for swimming in the river, viewpoints and swimming pools that you can enjoy all day.
Campo Verde

For those who want to fully enjoy Sajoma, the Club Hacienda Campo Verde is ideal. It is a tourist center with a swimming pool and restaurant.
Campo Verde Sajoma is the ideal place to spend a vacation or a weekend with the family, enjoy nature, rivers, rest, relax and have fun.
Take into account

Swimsuit, hat or cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, repellent, towel, and camera.
Visit the sanctuary and the sign that welcomes Sajoma.
Because the natural attractions are managed by foundations, most have entrance fees that do not exceed 3 dollars or its equivalent in pesos.
