Information triangulation is completed
With the commissioning of the C-Band Doppler weather radar at this Dominican Aeronautical Complex, with an investment of 250 million pesos, the triangulation of information for the entire Dominican territory is completed. For aviation, its impact is decisive on operational safety, as it strengthens the decision-making of pilots and air traffic controllers, the take-off and landing processes, the anticipation of adverse weather conditions, the intensity and distribution of rainfall, as well as the direction and speed of the wind.“This WRS300 radar, with dual polarization and solid state, has an effective coverage of 250 kilometers and can reach up to 400 kilometers. In 2022, the first radar was installed at the Punta Cana International Airport, and in May of last year, the second one at the Isabel de Torres hill, in Puerto Plata. Today we consolidate an integral meteorological surveillance system at the service of the country”, added the general director of IDAC.
