De Castro also made a clear distinction between professional journalism and the simple replication of content without analysis or context: “They propagate. We, the journalists, try to understand. They scandalize. We, or at least we try, explain without scandal,” he stated.

The Journalism Merit Award given by Acroarte pays tribute to outstanding figures in communication who have made significant contributions to the development of national journalism. In the case of Aníbal de Castro, his long career in print and diplomatic media was recognized, as well as his editorial leadership at the head of one of the most influential newspapers in the country.

The ceremony was attended by important figures from the journalistic, cultural, and political spheres, who celebrated the legacy and relevance of a professional who continues to champion journalism committed to truth, analysis, and context.
