The Executive Director of the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana), Biviana Riveiro Disla, assumed the vice presidency of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) for the period 2025-2027.
The election took place at the WAIPA General Assembly within the framework of the 29th World Investment Conference (WIC) and the Sharjah Investment Forum (SIF), organized by WAIPA and the Sharjah Foreign Direct Investment Office (Invest in Sharjah), in collaboration with the Ministry of Investment of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In the Presidency category, Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) was elected, the second vice presidency was assumed by Invest Korea and the regional directorates were elected: Invest Cyprus, CNI Honduras, Ghana Investment Promotion Center and Enterprise Greece.
Upon assuming his new duties, Riveiro expressed his commitment to strengthen collaboration between entities and promote initiatives aimed at innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness. Likewise, he highlighted the importance of strengthening agencies as a driving force to attract high value-added investments, generate quality jobs, and promote inclusive development in member countries. This appointment also reflects the leadership and work that the Dominican Republic has carried out in favor of the entity, assuming a proactive role in the promotion of regional development.
During the period 2023-2025, ProDominicana assumed the Regional Direction for Central America and the Caribbean, from where it spearheaded important initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation between the investment promotion agencies of the region. Among these, the First Regional Meeting of Investment Promotion Agencies of the Caribbean stands out, with the participation of international organizations such as the United Nations, the International Trade Centre (ITC), and internationally recognized international consultants. Likewise, workshops were held in conjunction with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) on strategic data analysis, as well as other learning initiatives on post-investment services (aftercare), consolidating ProDominicana's position as a benchmark in regional leadership.
