Bus catches fire in Verón-Punta Cana, leaving driver with severe burns

La Altagracia, Dominican Republic. — A bus from the company El Dorado Water Park caught fire on the Imagine detour, in the municipal district of Verón-Punta Cana, province La Altagracia, leaving significant material damage and the driver with serious injuries. The affected vehicle, a white Toyota bus, was approximately 90% destroyed in its structure, according to reports from Fire Department units that responded to the scene to control the emergency.

So far, authorities have not determined the exact cause of the fire. However, preliminary hypotheses are being considered related to possible mechanical or electrical failures that would have originated the flames in the vehicle. The bus driver suffered third-degree burns over a large part of his body. He was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel, who managed to stabilize him before his transfer to a nearby health center.
